With The Bad Batch right around the corner and The Book of Boba Fett on the horizon for the end of the year, we’re slowly getting more Star Wars, more often.

While it remains to be seen whether further archived series will see a re-release (here’s looking at you, Droids), it’s always good to have a dose of Star Wars injected onto the Disney+ Star Wars. Only The Story of the Faithful Wookiee is deemed “canon,” by virtue of being featured in the oft-maligned Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the Ewoks series, and Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor were stripped of their “canon” status once Lucasfilm had been taken over. Clone Wars was deemed non-canon with the development of The Clone Wars in 2008. Most interesting is the “canon” status of these additions. The Clone Wars TV show, and all tie-material going forward would be canon.

Clone Wars, released in 2003, was our first full look at the titular war that ultimately brought about the end of the Galactic Republic. in 2015 seemed to indicate that audiences believed real Star Wars belonged in. Released after Return of the Jedi, they told a story of the Ewoks helping a family that had found themselves stranded on Endor. Given the return of the character in season 2 of The Mandalorian, as well as the confirmation of The Book of Boba Fett, it’s not necessarily a surprise to see the original bounty hunter’s original introduction to the galaxy.Įlsewhere, Caravan of Courage and Battle for Endor were the first spin-off side stories to be released under the Star Wars umbrella. The Story of the Faithful Wookiee has gained something of a following over the years, as it is the first appearance of Boba Fett.
